Continue Below For More In Depth Explanation of Tools

OK Here I am going to explain what some other tools do.

These tools for the most part are hidden under the tools in the main tool bar.

Some of these tools you will never use. So I may not have explained much about them but what they do.

Your Marquee Tool    Short Cut (M)

The Rectangular Marquee Tool allows you to single out a rectangular selection with in the image.

The Elliptical allows you to single out oval or circle selections with in the image.

Leti's Tip#1: You Can Use The M button to toggle between the Rectangular and Elliptical Marquee tools. Most of the tools have keyboard short cuts to help you save mouse miles. And will be listed in the title bar in each section.

The Single Row Marquee allows you to single out single rows within your image. This works very well when trying to target small areas.

Leti's Tip#2: When using your marquee tool you can hold down on the space bar, which allows you to move around the image with out selecting an area.

The Single Column Marquee allows you to single out single columns.

The Lasso Tool                 Short Cut (L)

The Lasso Tool Allows you to make free hand selections from your image.

Hidden under that shape tool are several different kinds of shapes. Which basically all work the same. They are great for creating patterns on cloths for you dolls or even for making backgrounds etc.

When using the custom shape tool a drop box will appear in the menu toll bar above. And will give you more shape options. (Picture B

The Blur Tool

The wonderful Blur tool. Basically it allows you to soften sharp edges and blend in images. This is to me the greatest tool. And is a key factor in creating tool. You will see this tool used a lot in tutorials for all paint programs.

Leti’s Tip # Use the sharpen tool to restore edges and blurry look on bases when you paste them to you new image.

The Sharpen tool sharpens the effect of an image. Is good in restoring edges.

The Smudge Tool also smoothes edges and allows you to bleed in edges as well. Helps to achieve smooth borders.

Underneath the pen tool are hidden.

Freeform, add anchor, delete anchor and convert points. All of these are used in correspondent with each other. The pen tool can be used to outline a picture in making bases.

It is a detailed tool. It can also be used for tracing in making freeform drawings. The will be a tutorial on making bases and other things with the pen tool. It is one of the important ones in creating dolls.

Hidden Under the path selection tool is the direct selection tool. These are used in creating bases. To trace an outline of a picture

More to be explained soon.

Hidden under the clone stamp is the pattern stamp. More to be explained soon.

Hidden under the eyedropper is the color sampler tool which basically works the same as the eyedropper but you have to double click in order to default the color.

More to be explained soon.

Also hidden under is the measuring tool. This for the most part isn’t used in creating dolls.

The Note Tool for the most part you won’t use when creating dolls. But this toll does allow you to add notes and audio annotations to your files.
